Default Need Help finding a Profession that works for me

Now, I've been playing GW's on and off since Launch, but up until recently I never really got into it. I'm a big fan of MMO's and If you can name it, I've probably played it. My problem now is this. For the first time in any MMO ever, I was the Noob on a team. I don't mean Newbie, or New Guy, I mean I was the dumb ass on a PUG that everyone else on the team was shaking their heads in dismay about. I think, in part, this is mainly because the Profession I've been playing (Warrior) isn't really what I expected and I'm not really that good at it. Out of all the MMO's I've played and all the roles I've taken on my favorite (And the one I'm arguably best at) is the Scrapper from City of Heroes. Now, the Scrapper is a Melee class, oriented around decent damage. Nothing all that astounding, but decent steady damage in Melee, they don't tank, but in case of emergency they can absorb a good amount of damage and if need be keep the team alive long enough to run after the tank goes down.

To Surmise, I'm looking for a class that.....

1) Is A Melee Attacker

2) Does moderate to High Damage

3) Is Sturdy, but not a tank.

Is there anything in this game that can give me that, or should I just start working on a Nuker?

Assassin is the only one I can think of but you'll only be able to make one if you have factions.

Just like Ryker said, that's exactly what an assassin does.

They're great in pvp also.

Woohoo, gogo bunny thumper!
Or more seriously (ok I was serious, but...), Dervish also fits the bill nicely. From Nightfall campaign

Since warriors stances and +armor stacking skills got nerfed they are really great tanks anymore unless you do something drastic like obsidian flesh(I think is the skills name) or have a monk "bond" you to reduce damage. They have best maintained dps among mele classes also, post your build on it that we may better help you out.

I would say dervish or well payed warrior. warriors arent meant to tank. check out the PvE warrior section for some decent builds.

Just remember tho, assassins don't have the same armor as warriors so you can't just stand there and beat them over the head. They are meant to sneak in, get a couple of strikes in and then back out. Or something like that.
